Always on colors… Consider what is not up to you!

Choosing a color palette does not have to be worrisome! It is not a choice you make for life. You are always free to change your mind if you are no longer happy with the palette you chose.

That being said and just to avoid changing your mind too frequently – and spending a lot of time and money in the process – here is an aspect you want to take into consideration apart from your personal taste: the features of the room.

The Charming Tip:

Consider all the colors that are part of the room and that you cannot change… like the view out of the window or a beautiful New York brick wall.

If you are lucky enough to have a big window on an evergreen park, you should consider green as one of the colors of your room, whether you like it or not. Same for the color of any feature that you do not want or cannot change (brown for the brick wall, and so on).

Moreover, some of these colors, even if unalterable by you, they could still be very much changeable. That is the case, for example, of the apartment in the pictures below: The colors of the city are part of the tapestry. Depending on the weather and the time of the day, you will have a very different “palette”.

If this is the case, I find that the best way to go is neutral. You wouldn’t be able anyway to compete with Mother Nature on the palettes she creates.

So … just surrender!
