The color of your home…

CHOOSING A COLOR PALETTE

Method

The color scheme we choose for our rooms can affect not only the style of the place, its mood, and the atmosphere we are going to create, but more significantly our mood, our behavior, our concentration as well as our ability to relax and sleep. It is therefore paramount that we do it right. So, how to choose the right color?

Here are some tips… charming, of course! It is, in fact, not only a matter of personal taste. There are some rules that will help us in achieving a great result.

First thing needed for choosing a color palette is a color wheel that will show all the primary colors. White, black, and all the greys are considered neutral.

Starting then from your personal taste (of course!! Whose home is that??), you will choose your colors following one of these simple rules:

Colors that are next to each other in the color wheel
Two colors next to each other and one on the opposite side of the color chart
Three main colors equally distant from each other on the wheel

This is the general rule that you will adapt to the palette you have chosen following your taste.

The charming tip: Choose at least one color that you will use in every single room of your home

No matter if in one room you will use three opposite colors and in another five next to each other, one of the colors has to be used in every single room of your home. Unless you have decided to make your home look like a “back in the 70s” home, with every single room in a different color (which is absolutely fine!), a color repeated in every room communicates consistency within design. There is also a more practical reason for that choice. It gives you the possibility to freely move around furniture and soft furnishings from one room to another without ruining the balance of the room or clashing with the existing décor. It makes your furnishings more versatile.
